I have always wanted pants, skirts, and dresses with pockets. It didn’t occur to me that lack of pockets were a systemic form of prejudice until I was playing tennis competitively at 14. Men’s shorts always had pockets, and women’s tennis clothing required athletes store tennis balls in underwear. It’s 2021 now, and I think 14-year-old me would be underwhelmed with the lack of pockets progress we have made in 25 years. That’s right, 14-year-old Shoa, not only is there no colony on the moon, women still don’t have pockets.
But some brands seem to have made progress. And this site is to highlight those clothes and brands with pockets!* Toad and Co is one of those brands. This dress has THREE pockets: two big ones for easy access, and a hidden one with a ZIPPER. “The future is now!” this dress designer must have said. I was so happy with this dress that I now own four of them, in different colors. I’m not rich, it’s just these are uniquely amazing, and I plan to wear them for many years to come. And if something should happen to me, dear reader, please make sure these are gifted to someone else who loves looking good in pockets.

Toad and Co – Eco-friendly Dresses Maxi Dress
Price: $95.00 (but there are some on sale for $80.00 right now)
Sizing: I am 5’4″ and have little boobies, so the small works well on me.
Weather: I’ve worn this in weather ranging from 60 degrees to 95 degrees. For colder weather, a light jacket or shirt works really well.
Environmental guilt: This is a scale indicating how guilty I felt buying it – Low
Washing: I am a mom, and not an impressive one, so if it can’t withstand the dryer it does not have a place in my closet. This dress is so amazing – was fine after high heat in the dryer, and I don’t even have to iron it if I’ve left it just sitting in the machine for a day.
Future posts I will share more information about each brand and sustainability. Let me know what additional information would be helpful!
*My brother asked, “Okay, but what if everyone starts making stuff with pockets? Your site will be obsolete.”
“Yes,” I replied, “that is dream. My work will be complete.”
